With 1027 deeded acres, the land on Wind River Ranch is varied. The center of the ranch is 3 miles of Wind River, which bisects the property, north and south. Lined with towering cottonwood trees, the riparian corridor provides, water, shelter, and habitat to an abundance of wildlife. Bordered by Tribal lands and other large landowners, public access to this portion of the river is very limited, creating a very private 3 miles of river to the landowner. The acreage south of the river is rugged with riparian corridor, giving way to open prairies, sage covered hills and cliffs overlooking the spectacular valley scenery. LIVE WATER AND FISHING The Wind River is arguably one of the least known trout streams up-stream of the Boysen Reservoir. The area is considered to be one of the prime fishing destinations in the lower 48 States. In addition to the 43,000-acres of lakes and reservoirs, and 2,000 miles of streams and rivers, including the 185-mile Wind River, there is an abundance of fish and a lack of people. Through the ranch, the river has healthy populations of rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout. The Wind River Ranch boasts 3 miles of private access. Trout may be the big star for most fishing in the Wind River Valley, but lakes and streams offer a large selection of other fish, easily catchable from a boat or from atop the lakes' frozen surfaces in the winter. In addition to trout fishing in the Wind River there are a number of lakes are reservoirs nearby, that offer catfish in Boysen Reservoir. Head to Bighorn Lake for smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and sturgeon, and find bluegill at Ocean Lake. Closest to the Ranch is Pilot Butte Reservoir, with year-round fishing including trout, ling, and crappie. WILDLIFE AND HUNTING Wind River Ranch is teaming with wildlife including elk, deer, antelope, moose, bears, and mountain lions.
