Last month Teton Rock Gym celebrated its 1 year anniversary. Located in the same building as the Teton GeoTourism Center on Main Street in Driggs, the gym provides an opportunity for people of all ages and skill levels to enjoy indoor rock climbing. A great addition to an already established climbing community, TRG offers private lessons and workshops covering everything from belay basics to learning how to lead. They also offer private rentals and birthday parties along with an after-school program for children ages 6-12.
Never been rock climbing before? That is not a problem. The helpful staff is on hand to explain the equipment and safety protocols. With 3,000 feet of climbing, 14 top ropes, an auto belay system, and a training area complete with kettle-bell and hang boards the facility is well equipped for athletes training to conquer The Grand, or anyone looking for a fun indoor activity that also gets you moving. It’s the perfect activity for cold winter evenings.
Open Monday through Friday, 3-9 pm and Saturday and Sunday, 3-7 pm. They offer day passes, 10 pass punch cards, and monthly memberships. Day passes are$13 with shoe and harness rentals together are $6. You can also sign up for a monthly membership, or purchase punch cards good for 10 sessions at a discounted rate.
Fairly new to the valley my husband and I were excited to find a new climbing gym so close to home. We love indoor rock gyms because of the flexibility they give to climbing. If it’s raining, snowing, or after the sun has gone down you can still enjoy climbing.
